On Point with the Archers
Don't expect to just go shoot an arrow. Expect to learn how to mentally focus and foster a mutual support system among a family of friends.

1. What has this sport taught you about life in general?
That a lot of things require discipline and focus. And that the most dedicated people will wake up at 6 a.m. to go to archery.
2. If you could tell people one thing about this sport, what would you tell them?
There's more to it than just shooting an arrow. There comes with it, a lot of focus, a lot of mental work that goes into. I don't know about other clubs at other schools but at UCI there's a quite a friendly and fun environment of people here. (interviewed by Amy Meister)

Juan Garibay is a third year biomedical engineering major and currently serves as the Archery Club President.
1. What has this sport taught you about life in general?
I think it's taught me more discipline, I guess. Because with this sport you can't lose focus on what you're doing or otherwise it's not going to go where you want it to go if you don't pay attention to what you're doing. So I guess the most valuable thing I've learn about this sport is don't let your mind wander. Stay focused and give 100%.
2. If you could tell people one thing about this sport, what would you tell them?
Do it.
I mean, it's an experience that not a lot of people get. You're not going to be able to go anywhere and try archery. A lot of people, if they want to go do it, they have to buy their own equipment. Right here, the club is available for them to try it out. All they have to do is show up and show up to practice. There's nothing like shooting an arrow... you just feel completely epic. What misconceptions do people hold about archery?
